Combating COVID-19

Covid-19 in the construction industry

In these unprecedented times, combating COVID-19 is the priority. The team at Absolute Traffic Management would like to reassure you that we are doing everything we can to protect our teams, clients, and families. We continue to be here for you and provide the high level of service we adhere to. And, we continually monitor and update our policy as the situation requires. Above all, we would like to thank our team for everything they are doing to ensure the delivery of essential services to our customers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As Greater Sydney construction reopens, we would like to remind you of social distancing measures currently in place and our personal accountability to practice social distancing where possible. When combined with good personal hygiene measures, social distancing can help reduce the spread of a pandemic. This helps protect you, your family, and the most vulnerable members of the community and reduces the impact of the pandemic on essential, life-saving health services.

ABSOLUTE TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT COVID-SAFE PLAN

It is everyone’s responsibility to change their behaviours and habits to protect each other.

Combating COVID-19 means we must reduce the number of close physical and social contacts we have with one another where practical both at home and in the workplace; this includes:

• Not congregating at depots, including break areas and in the yard
• Not travelling together in vehicles
• No non-essential visitors on site or depots
• Masks are mandatory, hand sanitisers in all vehicles and to be used, equipment to be cleaned after use

The safety and well-being of you, your family and the wider community is our number one priority

As our highest risk of virus transmission is when we congregate, we ask that our team members do not attend a depot if it is not necessary.

Combating COVID-19 also means that all depot visits are brief and contact with others is avoided. As the risk to everyone’s health is so high, failure to follow reasonable and lawful directions to practice social distancing is something we all cannot afford to accept.

There will be times when our workers need to perform a job, and it is not safe or practical to maintain the recommended 1.5m distance between yourself and others. In these circumstances PPE is the best defence. We will continue to monitor supplies to ensure our team members have what they need on hand.

In the meantime, as a team member, please continue to check your emails for important updates (we’ll provide them as regularly as needed). Information on this page will continue to be updated as new questions are raised and we receive new advice from the Australian Government Department of Health and NSW Health.

We are all in this together, so we all need to take our responsibilities and develop the new habits required to keep us all safe.

Combating Covid-19: Update July 30th

We hope that you’ve all been well and we thank again our team members for their patience, amazing teamwork, and overall efforts during such a difficult time.

Greater Sydney is in lockdown and continues until the 28th of August. And, 3 more LGAs have been added to the hot LGAs in Greater Sydney. Construction work and now 8 LGAs remain closed from midnight July 28th.

Given the localised numbers in the areas, Parramatta, Campbelltown, and Georges River LGAs joined the 5 existing LGAs already of concern which are subject to an authorised workers order only.

So, only authorised workers in these 8 LGAs may leave their LGAs for work. The 5 previously announced LGAs of concern are: Canterbury council, Fairfield, Liverpool, Blacktown, and Cumberland.

Movement restrictions apply in the 8 hotspot LGAs. Only authorised workers can depart their LGAs and surveillance testing is required for them. Construction workers are not in the list of authorised workers. BUT…

We are essential services

We can not over say how hard and tough it will be for all of us and we do appreciate you all. Always remember that together we are stronger.

Rely on your management team: you have Jasmin, you have Torey, you have Shell, you have Alka, you have Perrine. We are always happy to help where we can.

Sometimes, it gets hard to get through some of us. Just feel free to message all of us at once and surely someone will reply. We are here to help where we can. So, don’t be shy, and reach out to us. We understand that it’s a difficult time for everybody.

Combating Covid-19 means that when we are on site, we ensure we are Covid-safe. We are following the regulations, we are following the rules, and we are doing the right things in order to get out of this lockdown as fast as possible.

So, we need to ensure that at all times we have gloves, glasses, masks, hand sanitisers, wipes and our Covid-safe plan with us. We might be updating it based on what the NSW government comes up with. If you don’t have your Covid-safe plan, please reach out to Torey.

If you do not have access to gloves, glasses, masks, hand sanitisers and wipes, reach out to Torey. We have many in the office and we’re more than happy to come out and drop it off to you.

Combating Covid-19 together

Also, we need to ensure that we are following the 1.5m distance at all times. We are a strong team and have good relationships with our clients. But, we don’t want to see anyone hand-shaking, hugging, high-fiving, fist pumping…

Let’s just be as safe as possible

Combating COVID-19 means we ensure that we are washing the utes every 2 to 3 days, in between shifts, and the stock as well, because we don’t know. We just don’t know anything about this disease. So, constantly wash your hands, especially after you touch something.

For the people who choose to work, please ensure that you’re doing the 3 days surveillance testing. Please send it to Jasmin when you’re doing the test, and your results. We cannot have this threat spread throughout our company, to our clients, our community. Our values are to take care of our clients, our community, ourselves, and our families.

Since 31st of July, constructions in non-occupied settings outside of the LGAs concerned with no residence on-site have reopened as planned, subject to a 1 person for 4square meter rule.

These low-risk construction sites must have COVID-safe plans in place, and compliance will be strictly enforced. Construction cannot resume in the 8 LGAs of concern. No construction workers will be allowed to leave these areas.

Covid Safe Plan

We are here for you

Now, as essential services, you will be allowed to work in those areas. Anybody that does not feel comfortable to take the surveillance testing or does not want to work during this time, it is totally ok.

Please reach out to us, and we will not put you on the roster. We completely understand. It is a very difficult time, uncomfortable and uncertain. So we’re completely understanding and supportive of your decisions. So please, reach out to us, and let us know.

Should things go well, it will only last 2 weeks and the government said 4 weeks to be on the safe side. But, whatever your opinion, please follow the rules because if we’re doing the right things we’ll help going out of lock-down.

We will keep providing training via Zoom so we can communicate effectively. Feel free to reach out if you’d like a 1-on-1 Zoom call. To all our team, keep up the good work. We’re super proud of you.
