Look Out For Traffic Controllers These Holidays

Traffic controllers safety during holidays

Have a care for traffic controllers during holiday rush. As holidays are starting and many of us will travel, traffic will be increasing on NSW motorways.

Traffic control is one of the most hazardous professions anyone can undertake. So, please remember to take it easy on the roads, particularly through roadworks.

Too many road workers are killed or seriously injured on the roads. Traffic control workers have one of the most dangerous jobs. And, they are at greater risk of injury over the holiday period than during the rest of the year.

Rushing in traffic to get to our destinations is never a good choice. So, leave plenty of time for your trip.

Remember traffic controllers are here to help keep traffic smooth and to help complete road construction projects. So, make sure to slow down at roadworks to protect them as well as every other road user.

Observe speed limits through roadworks, and avoid distractions. Phone, radio, food or drink, talks make us shift attention from the road and can have the worst consequences. Traffic controllers can be in grave danger due to a driver not noticing signage and other construction site signs.

Before a project starts, principal contractors must have a work health and safety management plan including a traffic management plan or traffic guidance scheme.

Our team has been working hard all year and has a well deserved time off with their families over the Christmas break.
Please help keep our road workers safe when driving:
– plan ahead,
– leave plenty of time to get where you need to, and
– show some consideration for those working to keep you safe.

We wish a nice break to our clients, partners, team and their families. Thank you for all of the support this past year! Stay safe on the road. Happy holidays from the ATM Team!
